Kitchen furniture at a sensible price: what a kitchen is made of
A made-to-measure kitchen has no ready price list: the figure is worked out for the particular room — the number of cabinets, the material of the fronts and the countertop, the mechanisms inside. A first figure still comes quickly, because a room plan with measurements is enough for it. What follows is what a kitchen is made of.
Sketch
Send us a plan of the room with measurements, or photographs — the next day we send back a 3D sketch with a preliminary calculation. The sketch shows how the kitchen sits in the room and roughly what the chosen set costs. Exact measurements are taken on site, and the full design follows the measuring.
Carcasses
The carcass carries the whole kitchen and shows the least. We make carcasses from chipboard: the board carries the weight of appliances and dishes, does not warp in steam and takes wet cleaning calmly. The joints that get wet more often than the rest we think through separately — how long the cabinet under the sink lasts depends on them.
Fronts
The front decides how the kitchen looks and how it is cleaned. Painted MDF gives any colour and a smooth surface without seams, stands up to damp and keeps its colour in the sun. Veneer shows the grain of real wood, so no two kitchens in it come out the same. Plastic-faced fronts go where cooking happens every day: the surface takes knocks and does not dull with washing.
Countertop
The countertop takes everything: the knife, the hot pan, the water by the sink. Quartz does not absorb smells and stands up to stains, which is why it is chosen more often for a kitchen where a lot of cooking is done. HPL is thinner than the rest, and a sink can be set flush beneath it. Chipboard remains a practical choice where the load on the countertop is light.
Mechanisms
Drawers and hinges work more than anything else in a kitchen. We fit Blum hardware: the drawer comes out to its full depth, runs evenly and closes itself without a bang, and does so dozens of times a day. The mechanism is the part that shows, a few years on, how the kitchen was put together.
Come to the showroom
In the showroom you can put your hands on the fronts and countertops: a colour on a screen and a colour on a sample are different things. We look at your sketch together there too, and correct it on the spot.
